She was underwent a whole-body fluorine-18-2fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) study for physical check up. There was symmetric diffused high FDG uptake in the skeletal muscles. Results of thyroid function test were as follow: TSH was not measurable, whereas both T4 21 μg/dL and T3 381 ng/dL were increased. The image of thyroid echo was hypoechoic and heterogenous compatible with Graves’ disease. So that, the increment of muscle FDG uptake may be responsible for the high peripheral glucose utilization seen in Graves’ disease.

Sports activity done five days before PET/CT results in augmented FDG uptake in skeletal muscles
Increased metabolic activity in muscle secondary to excessive muscle activity during the uptake phase and shortly before FDG injection is a known phenomenon. We present FDG PET/CT findings in a young male, known case of carcinoma maxilla His scan showed diffuse increased metabolic activity in multiple skeletal muscle groups. There was history of unaccustomed, strenuous sports activity of skiing...

Objective(s):The aim of this study was to determine whether technetium (99mTc) uptake is a relevant method for the differential diagnosis of Graves disease and subacute thyroiditis and calculate its cutoff value in case of its relevancy. Methods: A total of 69 patients, who were followed up (>3 months) in our hospital for thyrotoxi...
متن کاملF-18 FDG PET/CT Imaging of Eccrine Sweat Gland Carcinoma of the Scrotum with Extensive Regional and Distant Metastases
Eccrine carcinoma is an extremely rare malignant skin cancer arising from eccrine sweat glands with a high metastatic potential. It mainly occurs in the elderly, with equal incidence in both sexes. It usually spreads to regional lymph nodes, with liver, lungs, and bones being the most common sites of distant metastasis. Because of tumor rarity, little is known about the value of F18- FDG PET/CT...
